Solid hardwood is cut from a single piece of wood and is recommended for above or on grade. Engineered Hardwood is made of different layers with a solid piece of hardwood on top and a hardwood backing. The middle consists of a high-density material that in summary offers superior strength and stability.
If you’re looking to remodel a dampness-prone area like a basement or bathroom we recommend engineered hardwood. If you’re looking to re-floor a common living area we recommend solid hardwood.
